Emmanuel Yovo

_

I build real-time firmware that sits between hardware and the physical world — power converters, connected sensors, and control-command systems for energy and transportation equipment. Currently finishing an engineering double-degree at UTBM, based in Strasbourg, France — open to opportunities in France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, the US, Canada, Singapore and beyond.

From Lomé to a low-level control loop

I'm an embedded software engineer completing an engineering double-degree (Computer Science — Embedded Systems & Robotics, plus a M.Sc. in Complex Systems / Mechatronics) at UTBM, France. I started my studies in Togo with a B.Sc. in Software Engineering before moving to France to specialize in embedded and real-time systems.

My work sits at the intersection of hardware and software: writing low-level C on ARM Cortex-M4 targets to close real-time control loops (power electronics, motor and current regulation), designing multi-task firmware architectures under FreeRTOS, and wiring the communication stacks — CAN, Modbus, MQTT, gRPC — that let embedded systems talk to the rest of the world.

I've built this across three placements: transforming a UPS into a high-performance test current source at SOCOMEC, developing the firmware of a connected air purifier at TECHNOPURE, and building microgrid control-command logic at EDF R&D. I'm now looking for my first full-time role — ideally in energy or transportation (aerospace, rail, automotive) firmware — and I'm genuinely open to relocating internationally to find the right team.

FEB 2026 — JUL 2026

Embedded Software Engineer — Power Electronics Internship

SOCOMEC SAS · Huttenheim, France

Transforming a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) into a high-performance test current source.

  • Developed low-level control laws in C on an Infineon XMC4500 (ARM Cortex-M4) to drive power conversion.
  • Implemented a current regulation loop (ABC then Clarke/αβ, PI anti-windup) under strict real-time constraints using hardware Capture & Compare timers.
  • Validated control logic in simulation with Matlab Coder / Simulink before experimental validation on a test bench, in compliance with industrial electrical safety standards.
  • Built strong working knowledge of UPS architectures: rectifiers, inverters, bypass, 4th leg, booster/charger stages.

MAR 2025 — SEP 2025

Embedded Software Engineer — IoT & Instrumentation Contract

TECHNOPURE SAS · Belfort, France

Firmware for a connected air purifier: ambient data collection, remote control, component lifetime tracking.

  • Designed a multi-task software architecture in C under FreeRTOS (ESP-IDF) on ESP32.
  • Implemented I2C and PWM drivers for sensor acquisition (CO₂, ozone, ammeters) and GPIO pulse-counting for fan speed.
  • Built a dual-stream communication stack: HTTPS for device authentication, MQTT for telemetry and remote control.
  • Drove low-level power relays for an ozone generator and remote power management.
  • Tracked component lifetime with persistence in non-volatile memory (NVS).

SEP 2024 — FEB 2025

R&D Junior Engineer — Embedded Control Systems Internship

EDF R&D · Palaiseau, France

Control-command algorithm for a microgrid Power Management System (PMS).

  • Developed the PMS control-command algorithm for a microgrid (batteries, PV, generator) in Go and Python.
  • Built a partial digital twin of the microgrid for control logic validation and simulation.
  • Applied CI/CD pipelines and static analysis (SonarQube) to keep safety-critical code robust.
  • Implemented inter-system communication via Modbus and gRPC.
